“Dear Emma” will be a series of open letters to my dearest daughter Emma. We are bombarded in all directions with poorly informed ideology, subtly hidden in articles and advertising which ultimately hopes to convince us that it is Truth so that we act accordingly (by e.g. purchasing the next holiday package thinking it will give us ever lasting happiness). As what Apostle Peter will call these as “cleverly devised myths” or in our context, “fake news”, it is clearly important to discern Truth from False.

Inspired by Albert Mohler “The Briefing”, I hope to take baby steps to interpret news together with Emma using a biblical perspective which I believe gives the most coherent and comprehensive explanation for what we observe daily, simply because it is the Truth. In so doing, I yearn to know our Father better. (1John 2:12-14)

After all, we are tasked to “be transformed by the renewal of our minds and to test” what we see or hear using His Word as the arbiter of truth. (Rom 12:2). While we do our best to bring our children up in the fear of the Lord (Eph 6:4), we must also rest in the fact that salvation solely comes from the Lord (Jonah 2:9).

I am sure I will have some blindspots along the way. So, do share with me any biblical insights you have so that we can all learn together!
